 Illegal Immigrants

The problem with illegal immigrants in this country is out of control, and I find it amazing that many Americans do not consider it an important issue.

I often hear Americans making excuses for them, and believe me I'm not completely unsympathetic. No, I wouldn't want to live in Mexico. Sure, for the most part they just want to make a decent living and be able to support their families. But it's unfortunate that Americans don't understand how this hurts us.

For example, there is talk of President Bush signing a bill that will allow illegals Social Security. These illegals get black market driver's licenses, pay into a fake social security account, yet if this bill is passed all they'll have to do to get s.s. is bring in pay stubs, fake driver's license, and proof they've payed into a PHONY account..ohhh and have proof that they've worked in the U.S. for not even 2 years! We have to work 10! Last year alone, we payed over $10 BILLION in tax returns to illegals! This is only 1 problem ( a big problem, but nonetheless, only 1) that we face because of illegal immigration.

Sure Pelosi and gang are working hard on their 100-hour agenda (which is riddled with problems...but I digress) Why isn't THIS on the agenda? Someone's gotta fund the fence.

For those of you interested, check out the Heritage Foundation's study on this 100- Hour agenda. It's 28 pages but very informative and everyone should read if you have the time!!

 so true....

A Free Press? In Your Dreams
by Bill O'Reilly
Posted Jan 06, 2007

Here are two entertainment predictions for 2007 that you can immediately take to the bank. First, Al Gore's global-warming documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," will win an Oscar, and second, the Dixie Chicks will win a Grammy for their latest album.

Everybody in the entertainment industry knows the truth of what I'm predicting, but few of them would find it inconvenient. And here's another truism: The media define American culture, and those doing the defining are almost all liberal or far-left individuals.

As Hyman Roth once asked Al Pacino's character in "Godfather II": "What does that tell you, Michael?"

It tells me the fix is in.

For months, my research staff has attempted to find one television critic writing for a major American newspaper who is a conservative thinker. They could not find one. Scores of TV writers are registered Democrats -- we can't find a single registered Republican.

The same is true for film reviewers. As far as we can tell, only syndicated movie critic Michael Medved is a conservative thinker. Nearly every other writer analyzing film has left-wing credentials.

Same thing with book review editors, likewise for music critics. The field of popular culture in America is not even close to being level. It drains to the left all day, every day.

Want more? One company, Reed Business Information, owns the leading media trade publications "Variety," "Publishers Weekly" and "Broadcasting and Cable." That company is run by Tad Smith, a far-left, true believer who is a big donor to people like Howard Dean and Hillary Clinton.

And Mr. Smith has a perfect right to put his money where his mind is. He also has a right to hire editors who reflect his very liberal beliefs. And he does.

Thus, lefty projects put out by Michael Moore, Al Gore, the Dixie Chicks and scores of others generally receive fawning reviews in the trades and newspapers. Don't even ask about the relatively few conservative entertainment projects.

Well, if you have to ask, contact Patricia Heaton, who played the wife on "Everybody Loves Raymond." Ms. Heaton is pro-life, and some in Hollywood deeply resent her for it. If the actress were a liberal activist, I believe, her employment situation would be much easier.

The question, of course, is why should you care? Most Americans don't read trade journals or listen to pinhead critics. Well-educated people who have come by their political beliefs honestly will not be affected by media propaganda or unfairness.

Unfortunately, the pool of well-informed, clear-thinking Americans is shrinking, and the rise of ideological popular culture is beginning to influence the debate. Entertainers like Jon Stewart, David Letterman, and Stephen Colbert have become purveyors of information for many young Americans. Also, the pronounced left-wing media "group think" inhibits dissenting points of view. The result is that many "secular-progressives" are considered heroes in the press. And the dreaded "neo-cons" are certainly the villains.

This situation has a major influence on the discourse in America, and things are getting out of hand. Almost every major pop culture magazine tilts left. The network news broadcasts tilt left. Hollywood is a bastion of far-left thought. The teacher's unions are far left. The nation's universities are dominated by liberal, activist instructors.

Despite all that, most Americans remain traditional in their thinking, and all the polls say conservatives continue to outnumber liberals by a healthy margin. But that situation can and probably will change in the very near future.

Perhaps Al Gore might want to make a documentary about that.

Quotes from the Great Ronald Reagan

The following are some of my favorite quotes from a great president and even greater man, Ronald Wilson Reagan:

In the springtime of hope, some lights seem eternal; America's is.
-Acceptance Speech, RNC 8/23/84

Bureaucrats favor cutting red tape---lengthwise
-11/75

How do you tell a Communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. How do you tell an anti-communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.
-9/25/87

We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.
-Memorial Address at Pointe du Hoc, Normandy, France
6/6/84

History teaches that wars begin when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap.
-1/16/84

My whole family were Democrats. As a matter of fact, I had an uncle who won a medal once for never having missed voting in an election for fifteen years...and he'd been dead for fourteen.
-8/9/73

You know, we could say (the Democrats) spend money like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors. It would be unfair, because the sailors are spending their own money.
-Acceptance Speech, RNC 8/23/84

What America needs is spiritual renewal and reconciliation--first, man with God, and then man with man.
-Campaign stump speech, 1976

Freedom prospers only where the blessings of God are avidly sought and humbly accepted.
-3/8/83

Man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.
-Farewell Address, 1/11/89

My young friends, history is a river that may take us as it will. But we have the power to navigate, to choose direction, and make our passage together.
-4/30/84

It's hard, when you're up to your armpits in alligators, to remember you came here to drain the swamp.
-2/10/82

Life is just one grand, sweet song, so start the music.
-High School Yearbook Quote

When we speak of peace, we should not mean just hte absence of war. True peace rests on the pillars of individual freedom, human rights, national self-determination, and respect for the rule of law.
-11/14/85

We do have a rendezvous with destiny. Eitehr we will preside over the great nightfall for all mankind, or we will accept the leadership that has been thrust upon us. I believe that is the obligation and responsibility of the Republican Party today.
-Southern GOP Convention, 12/7/73

 Appeasement Schmappeasement

The following is an excellent article written by Ann Coulter on July 19th: ENJOY!!

I knew the events in the Middle East were big when The New York Times devoted nearly as much space to them as it did to a New York court ruling last week rejecting gay marriage.

Some have argued that Israel's response is disproportionate, which is actually correct: It wasn't nearly strong enough. I know this because there are parts of South Lebanon still standing.

Most Americans have been glued to their TV sets, transfixed by Israel's show of power, wondering, "Gee, why can't we do that?"

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean says that "what's going on in the Middle East today" wouldn't be happening if the Democrats were in power. Yes, if the Democrats were running things, our cities would be ash heaps and the state of Israel would have been wiped off the map by now.

But according to Dean, the Democrats would have the "moral authority that Bill Clinton had" — no wait! keep reading — "when he brought together the Israelis and Palestinians." Clinton really brokered a Peace in Our Time with that deal — "our time" being a reference to that five-minute span during which he announced it. Yasser Arafat immediately backed out on all his promises and launched the second intifada.

The fact that Israel is able to launch an attack on Hezbollah today without instantly inciting a multination conflagration in the Middle East is proof of what Bush has accomplished. He has begun to create a moderate block of Arab leaders who are apparently not interested in becoming the next Saddam Hussein.

There's been no stock market crash, showing that the markets have confidence that Israel will deal appropriately with the problem and that it won't expand into World War III.

But liberals can never abandon the idea that we must soothe savage beasts with appeasement — whether they're dealing with murderers like Willie Horton or Islamic terrorists. Then the beast eats you.

There are only two choices with savages: Fight or run. Democrats always want to run, but they dress it up in meaningless catchphrases like "diplomacy," "detente," "engagement," "multilateral engagement," "multilateral diplomacy," "containment" and "going to the U.N."

I guess they figure, "Hey, appeasement worked pretty well with ... uh ... wait, I know this one ... ummm ... tip of my tongue ..."

Democrats like to talk tough, but you can never trap them into fighting. There is always an obscure objection to be raised in this particular instance — but in some future war they would be intrepid! One simply can't imagine what that war would be.

Democrats have never found a fight they couldn't run from.

On "Meet the Press" last month, Sen. Joe Biden was asked whether he would support military action against Iran if the Iranians were to go "full-speed-ahead with their program to build a nuclear bomb."

No, of course not. There is, Biden said, "no imminent threat at this point."

According to the Democrats, we can't attack Iran until we have signed affidavits establishing that it has nuclear weapons, but we also can't attack North Korea because it may already have nuclear weapons. The pattern that seems to be emerging is: "Don't ever attack anyone, ever, for any reason. Ever."

The Democrats are in a snit about North Korea having nukes, with Howard Dean saying Democrats are tougher on defense than the Republicans because since Bush has been president, North Korea has "quadrupled their nuclear weapons stash."

It wasn't that difficult. Clinton gave the North Koreans $4 billion to construct nuclear reactors in return for the savages promising not to use the reactors to build bombs. But oddly, despite this masterful triumph of "diplomacy," the savages did not respond with good behavior. Instead, they immediately set to work feverishly building nuclear weapons.

But that's another threat the Democrats do not think is yet ripe for action.

On "Meet the Press" last Sunday, Sen. Biden lightly dismissed the North Koreans, saying their "government's like an eighth-grader with a small bomb looking for attention" and that we "don't even have the intelligence community saying they're certain they have a nuclear weapon."

Is that the test? We need to have absolute certainty that the North Koreans have a nuclear weapon capable of hitting California with Kim Jong Il making a solemn promise to bomb the U.S. (and really giving us his word this time, no funny business) before we — we what? If they have a nuclear weapon, what do we do then? Is a worldwide thermonuclear war the one war Democrats would finally be willing to fight?

Democrats won't acknowledge the existence of "an imminent threat" anyplace in the world until a nuclear missile is 12 minutes from New York. And then we'll never have the satisfaction of saying "I told you so" because we'll all be dead.
